We, the Human Performance and Experience (HPX) team, are looking for a research scientist who is passionate about innovating in the AI era by deeply understanding human behavior! We are a multi-disciplinary research team working closely with Product teams to craft NVIDIA's vision and future products in areas such as interactive AI applications, gaming, and/or AR/VR. You will be working with creative researchers and engineers who move as one team to solve the problems that matter.

What you'll be doing:

  • Identify key questions for guiding product and applications at the intersection of generative AI, language models, gaming and video conferencing.
  • Further develop the questions through iterative experimentation and prototyping, and guide our products with answers grounded in real-world problems.
  • Collaborate with researchers and product innovators inside and outside NVIDIA.
  • Publish original research and present at conferences and events.

What we need to see:

  • A Ph.D. degree or equivalent experience and 2+ years of relevant research experience in Computer Science, Human-Computer/Robot Interaction, Vision Science, Neuroscience, Psychophysics or related fields.
  • Knows theory and practice in organizing and analyzing large-scale time-series behavior data of humans, AI, and the interactions thereof.
  • Highly skilled in training and evaluating large language models or generative models with other modalities such as vision or action.
  • Proficient in programming, preferably in Python (PyTorch, Lightning, HuggingFace) and/or C++.
  • Willing to tackle low-level and infrastructure problems. Proactive mentality in solving infrastructural problems encountered during research.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and cross-functional experience working on interdisciplinary teams.
  • Track record of research excellence or significant product development.

Ways to stand out from the crowd:

  • Knowledgeable and skilled in playing, designing, or evaluating player experience of games.
  • Adept with multi-node, multi-GPU compute systems.
  • Proficient in modern software development and source-control systems, like git.
  • Expertise in designing, implementing, and performing behavioral experiments involving human subjects and interactive visual stimuli.
  • Solid knowledge and skills of quantitatively modeling human perception, movement, and decision-making.
  • Have trained yourself and/or others to improve skill level in esports, traditional sports, music, or any field requiring systematic training.

The base salary range is 160,000 USD - 258,750 USD. Your base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions.
