Pay Grade: 116


Hourly Range: $43.07 - $63.50


The successful candidate’s placement in the salary range will depend upon previous experience in a similar role.

DESCRIPTION / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

This position provides technical work in testing, installing, maintaining and repairing operational technology network infrastructure, including Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and Human Machine Interface systems for water and wastewater operations. Troubleshoots, repairs and programs control logic for SCADA systems, as well as offers advanced expertise in designing and supporting programmable logic controller (PLC)/SCADA network services. Trains, motivates and oversees staff, establishes work schedules, and ensures adherence to workgroup procedures and policies


Duties include, but are not limited to the following

  • Assists in planning, implementing and managing operational technology infrastructure for Public Works, including industrial network related software, hardware and equipment
  • Analyzes system operations for implementing technology
  • Trains, motivates, assigns and oversees the work of staff; establishes schedules and methods for work performed; ensures adherence to proper workgroup procedures and policies.
  • Provides advanced technical expertise regarding PLC and SCADA network services for local and wide area networks
  • Maintains knowledge of current and emerging SCADA network systems, technologies, architectures and products
  • Coordinates the design, build, program and modification of system displays for the SCADA network; develops functional database structures for SCADA systems and updates and archives the database as required; operates and programs network devices, PLC and other data communication devices.
  • Assists in developing, monitoring and installing programs for local process controls and PLCs; performs data entry and programming
  • May perform responsibilities of a similar nature and level as assigned.


REQUIREMENTS

Experience:

Four (4) years of experience technical solutions in supporting instrumentation and controls

Candidates must have the minimum amount of work experience. Years of experience are based upon a full-time work schedule (2,080 hours per year). The sum of an applicant’s full-time and/or part-time qualifying work experience must meet or exceed the stated minimum qualification. Education will not substitute for the required work experience; however, related unpaid and/or volunteer work experience may be used as qualifying work experience.


Education:

Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Instrumentation and Controls or related field.

The term “equivalent” means that directly related work experience exceeding the required work experience will substitute in equal one-year increments for college-level education (2 additional years for an associate degree and 4 additional years for a bachelor’s degree).


Professional Licensure and/or Certifications:

  • Valid Driver’s License
