The Senior Accountant will become a subject matter expert on the monthly revenue and membership for the Senior Community Care business. They will be responsible for preparing and posting journal entries, creating reporting and performing ad hoc analysis on areas of expertise. The individual in this role will also be responsible for maintaining the balance sheet reconciliations related to the receivable and liability accounts used in the monthly journal entries, as well as organizing and providing commentary on P&L or BS accounts to assist in the preparation of accurate financial statements. This exciting role gives the opportunity to collaborate and work with others on the accounting team, the finance team and within other areas and segments of the business.<br/><br/>You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.<br/><br/><strong>Primary Responsibilities:</strong><br/><br/><ul><li> Prepare Journal entries primarily related to membership, revenue and SG&A to support the month end close </li><li> Prepare monthly reporting to supplement the month end close </li><li> Prepare quality Account Reconciliations and make quality improvements </li><li> Provide audit support to internal and external auditors </li><li> Perform Ad Hoc membership and revenue variance analysis and investigate differences </li><li> Refresh monthly flux files and provide meaningful commentary for period over period variances on the P&L and BS </li><li> Create and maintain process documentation </li></ul><br/><br/>You'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.<br/><br/><strong>Required Qualifications:</strong><br/><br/><ul><li> Bachelor's degree in accounting </li><li> 2+ years of finance and accounting experience </li><li> Intermediate level of proficiency in Microsoft Office products </li><li> Proven excellent written and verbal communication skills </li><li> Proven self-motivated with attention to detail </li><li> Demonstrated critical thinking and problem solving abilities to address issues in daily work </li><li> Demonstrated time management skills to properly plan and execute on deadlines </li><li> Demonstrated ability to take responsibility and ownership of assignments </li></ul><br/><br/><strong>Preferred Qualifications:</strong><br/><br/><ul><li> Accounting and Finance systems experience - PeopleSoft, SmartView / Essbase </li><li> Experience working with large amounts of data </li></ul><br/><br/>*All employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group's Telecommuter Policy<br/><br/>Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $60,200 - $107,400 annually based on full-time employment.
