About AI Training Work

AI training (data labeling and human feedback) is the human side of building modern AI: people prepare, review, and rate examples that models learn from. Contributors shape how state-of-the-art systems behave while working remotely and on flexible schedules.

This role focuses on document-based tasks that feed model evaluation and policy development, offering meaningful, high-impact work in a growing field.

  • 100% remote, often flexible hours suitable for part-time work.
  • Work ranges from entry-level annotation to specialist review requiring domain expertise.

The Role

OpenTrain is recruiting a Policy Document Review Consultant to analyze, refine, and consult on policy documents, contracts, proposals, and research papers used in AI training workflows.

Work centers on document review, tracked changes and formatting, form filling, data extraction, evaluation ratings, and strategic recommendations for clarity and regulatory alignment.

  • Data type: DOCUMENT. Labeling task includes evaluation/rating of materials.
  • Employment: Contractor, Part-time; worldwide remote.

What You'll Do

  • Analyze, draft, and review policy documents, legal contracts, proposals, and research papers for clarity and compliance.
  • Provide strategic consultation and actionable recommendations on regulatory, legal, healthcare, academic, or finance-related issues.
  • Conduct thorough document reviews for compliance, clarity, and industry best practices.
  • Perform precise formatting work, tracked changes, form filling, and data extraction.
  • Synthesize complex information into succinct policies and procedures.
  • Communicate findings clearly in written and verbal formats.

Requirements

You must be able to deliver high-quality, detail-oriented document reviews in a remote, contract setting and manage multiple projects to deadline.

  • 3+ years professional experience in government policy operations or equivalent policy/regulatory work.
  • Advanced proficiency with Word and PDF tools, including tracked changes, formatting, document review, and data extraction.
  • Demonstrated expertise drafting, analyzing, and reviewing complex policy or regulatory documents.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines remotely.

Compensation, Schedule, and Logistics

This is a paid hourly contractor role with a minimum weekly expectation and flexible scheduling within that commitment.

  • Time requirement: 20+ hours per week.
  • Pay: Paid per hour (USD) with range $20–$58/hr (PAY_PER_HOUR).
  • Language: English required. Remote: worldwide.

Who Should Apply

Experienced policy professionals, legal analysts, or regulatory specialists who enjoy written work and precise document editing should apply. This role suits people looking for meaningful, flexible contract work that directly shapes how AI systems are governed and evaluated.

  • Good fit if you have government policy experience, strong Word/PDF skills, and a history of clear, high-quality written recommendations.
  • Not a fit if you cannot commit to 20+ hours/week or lack required document tooling experience.

How to Apply

To apply, create a free OpenTrain account, complete your profile, and submit your application for this role. Include a brief summary of relevant experience, examples or samples of document work if available, and your availability.

OpenTrain will review applications and contact candidates about next steps.

  • Prepare examples that show your tracked changes, formatting, or policy drafting where possible.
  • Include availability to meet the 20+ hours/week expectation.
