Job Overview:

Reporting to the CFO, the Global Controller is a senior leader managing a team of ~20 employees responsible for overseeing the company's financial accounting, reporting, and controllership functions. This role ensures the organization's financial reporting and operations are compliant with accounting standards, legal requirements, and corporate policies. The Global Controller will lead the accounting team in producing accurate and timely financial statements, managing internal controls, overseeing audits, ensuring tax compliance and driving process improvements across all accounting operations. The Global Controller will also collaborate closely with senior leadership to align finance function goals and outcomes with strategic business objectives. While PharmaLogic is a private equity-backed company that is not subject to public company requirements, experience with public company reporting, disclosure, internal control and legal requirements is highly valued as the company continues to scale.

This is a "work from home" position; the entire accounting function operates remotely with the majority of company interactions relevant to this role occurring on East Coast Time.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

People
• Lead, mentor, and develop the U.S. accounting team, ~20+ direct and indirect reports, fostering a culture of high performance, accountability, and collaboration. Collaborate with heads of finance and accounting teams in Canada and Norway to achieve Finance function objectives.
• Set clear goals and expectations for team members, providing regular performance feedback and professional development opportunities.

Strategy
• Serve as a key partner to the CFO and other senior business and functional leaders in driving financial strategy and business performance.
• Collaborate with the CFO on global banking relationships, investment strategies, and capital structure / debt management.
• Partner with the CFO to identify and mitigate financial risks related to foreign exchange, compliance, taxation, and other areas of global operations.
• Provide financial insights and analytics to support decision-making and business planning.
• Collaborate with finance (FP&A) and business / functional leaders to develop and manage departmental budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.
• Provide financial and accounting expertise during mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic transactions.
• Support PE sponsor reporting requirements and contribute to exit-readiness initiatives.

Technical and Operational
• Develop and implement global accounting policies, procedures, and controls to ensure consistent financial reporting across regions.
• Ensure that the company's financial statements are prepared in accordance with applicable accounting standards and are accurate, complete and timely. Lead the monthly and annual close processes and manage internal and external reporting requirements, including lender and bank covenant compliance reporting. Accounting operational areas include, but are not limited to: revenue / collections, procurement / payables, inventory, fixed assets, cash management and banking, tax compliance, consolidations, payroll.
• Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, tax laws, and corporate governance standards in all jurisdictions where the company operates.
• Develop and manage internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial data integrity.
• Ensure the establishment and enforcement of effective internal control systems across all global financial operations.
• Oversee global cash management, ensuring the efficient management of liquidity, working capital, and cash flow. Maintain commercial banking relationships.
• Lead efforts to streamline accounting processes, enhance financial reporting systems, and drive automation and adopt emerging technologies to improve efficiency and scalability.
• Continuously evaluate and improve financial workflows to ensure cost-effective, efficient, and scalable operations.
• Drive the implementation of new accounting systems and technologies to enhance reporting capabilities and overall financial management.
• Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors, managing the audit process across multiple jurisdictions.
• Oversee the preparation and filing of tax returns and ensure compliance with all local, national, and international tax laws.
• Work closely with tax advisors to optimize global tax strategies and ensure the effective management of transfer pricing, tax audits, and reporting requirements.
• M&A (buy-side and sell-side): oversee financial due diligence, data room, integration planning, and post-acquisition financial reporting and controls.

Job Requirements / Skills / Education:
• A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Professional certification such as CPA or equivalent is required.
• 15-20 years of experience in accounting and finance, with at least 8 years in a leadership or senior management position in global finance and accounting roles. Experience in life science (e.g., biopharma, tools, diagnostics), pharma services (e.g., CRO, CDMO), healthcare services and/or manufacturing industry environments is strongly preferred.
• Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and lead cross-functional teams.
• Proven track record of managing global financial operations, including consolidations, financial reporting, and compliance.
• Expertise in financial reporting, compliance, internal controls, and accounting processes. Public company experience highly desirable, as is experience in designing, implementing and executing internal controls under a SOX framework.
• In-depth knowledge of relevant accounting standards (IFRS, US GAAP) and financial regulations.
• Advanced knowledge of financial systems and ERP platforms (e.g., SAP, NetSuite, Coupa, ADP, FloQast, PowerBI, etc.).
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills. Extraordinary attention to detail and organizational skills. Intellectually curious and committed to continuous learning. Proven track record within a fast paced and changing environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with accounting team members, senior leadership, auditors, external stakeholders and Board of Directors.
• Appropriate work from home environment. Some travel required for in person meetings, site visits, etc.
