In short, We Enable Possibility℠.</p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p><b>Job Summary</b></p><p>The Actuarial Operations team designs and implements advanced pricing models and analytical solutions that drive profitability and growth across Arch’s Property & Casualty insurance products.</p><p></p><p>The Director/AVP, Data Architect is a senior technical leader responsible for designing, building, and evolving enterprise data platforms that place analytics at the core of decision‑making. This role combines data architecture ownership with hands‑on data engineering, partnering closely with actuarial, analytics, and business leaders to deliver scalable, high‑quality solutions.</p><p></p><p>As a key member of the Actuarial Operations team, the Architect sets engineering standards, owns architectural decisions, and enables consistent, high‑quality data consumption across analytics, reporting, and downstream applications.</p><p></p><p><b>Responsibilities and Accountabilities: </b></p><p>·Own and evolve enterprise data architecture supporting actuarial, analytical, and research use cases.</p><p>·Design, build, and optimize complex data pipelines, databases, and data models.</p><ul><li><p>Lead development and orchestration of data workflows using Apache Airflow or equivalent frameworks.</p></li><li><p>Enable consistent and trusted reporting by defining standardized datasets, calculations, and business definitions.</p></li><li><p>Partner with analytics teams to ensure data models support dashboards, ad‑hoc analysis, and executive reporting.</p></li><li><p>Lead and mentor engineers, providing hands‑on technical guidance and architectural direction.</p></li><li><p>Manage data engineering efforts across the full project lifecycle, balancing priorities and resources.</p></li><li><p>Automate data ingestion and integrate internal and external data sources using modern technologies.</p></li><li><p>Promote best practices across data modeling, documentation, testing, version control, and deployment.</p></li><li><p>Build strong partnerships with actuarial, analytics, and technology peers across the organization.</p></li><li><p>Operate effectively in ambiguous problem spaces and break complex challenges into actionable solutions.</p></li></ul><p></p><p><b> Required Experience</b></p><p>·10+ years of experience in data engineering or data platform development.</p><p>·Demonstrated experience leading and mentoring engineering teams.</p><p>·Strong understanding of data warehousing, dimensional modeling, and reporting‑friendly data design.</p><p>·Strong hands‑on experience with Python for data engineering and automation.</p><p>·Proven ability to deliver scalable, production‑grade data solutions.</p><p></p><p><b>Desired Experience</b></p><p>·Experience supporting analytics or actuarial functions within insurance or financial services.</p><p>·Hands‑on experience with modern cloud data platforms such as Snowflake and Databricks.</p><p>·Familiarity with MLOps and analytics‑driven production systems.</p><p>·Familiarity designing and operating data pipelines using Apache Airflow or equivalent orchestration tools.</p><p>·Strong data manipulation skills and resilient problem‑solving ability.</p><ul><li><p>Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.</p></li><li><p>Exceptional collaboration and relationship building skills</p></li><li><p>Comfortable handling ambiguous concepts and breaking down complex problems into manageable pieces</p></li></ul><p>·Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and business needs.</p><p></p><p><b> Education</b></p><p>·Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Data Analytics, or equivalent experience.</p><p></p><p>#LI-Remote</p><p>#LH1</p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:left">For individuals assigned or hired to work in the location(s) indicated below, the base salary range is provided.
