PowerBI Developer with DevOps

Contract to Hire 100% Remote (EST Times)

1 Mid & 1 Senior PowerBi Developer

High-Level Individual Job Duties:

  1. Looking for more than just building dashboards, Optum needs someone hands on w/in the Infrastructure – provisioning access, creating access roles, working with users, low level security etc. It’s Row level security within Power BI to provide specific access controls to selective data.
  2. Also able and willing to do visualizations and reporting with PowerBI. Yes, this will be required as well, as this resource will initially be a one person team. Ideal to have ability to create custom visualizations in Power BI.
  3. DevOps / Infrastructure knowledge will be needed – the consultant needs to understand deployment & publishing the data. Be able to create deployment pipelines within the same environment and provide process for external tenant deployments
  4. The instance is set up @ Optum but the client-side instance has not yet been built; Work closely with the client implementation and architecture team to get this setup. will lead the build of this instance and give guidance to internal Optum team members, but not manage them directly
  5. Testing will also be in scope as they do not have a dedicated QA on the team

Must Haves:

  1. Power BI
    1. Building Reports & Dashboards; Build custom visualizations from Power BI visual libraries. Manage/Improve report performance
    2. Working on the Infrastructure / Provisioning side
    3. Connecting to databases and aiding the Data Engineering team on integrations
  2. Modern App Dev Experience
    1. Needs to have a solid understanding of DevOps and Testing
      1. Not necessarily building the Infrastructure from scratch but connecting things together (connecting pipelines, etc), but managing more of the admin tasks of Power BI and handling deployments.
  3. Database experience – SQL & PL/SQL
  • Dax Studio
  • Data Connectivity
  • QA and Devops
  • Comfortable working in Greenfield team
  • Provide suggestions on what is/not possible with PowerBI
  • Needs to be willing to participate in standups, ask questions, explain what they are doing
  • For the more Senior level resource: Provisioning access, creating access roles, working with users, row level security etc.

Nice to Have:

  • Databricks
